- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- Optional: Egg wash (1 yolk + 1 tablespoon water) and sesame seeds
Instructions
- Mix the sourdough starter, warm water, flour, butter, honey, salt, and egg. Knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise for 6-8 hours at room temperature.
- Chill the dough overnight for enhanced flavor.
- Shape into buns, let them rise again for 1-2 hours, and brush with egg wash.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- For extra tang, extend the first rise to 8-10 hours.
- Use sesame seeds, herbs, or grated cheese as toppings for variety.
