Ingredients
- 1 lb ground venison
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs (helps with binding)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 4 burger buns, toasted
- 4 slices smoked gouda cheese (optional)
- 4 leaves butter lettuce
- 1 tomato, sliced
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 tbsp burger sauce (or your favorite condiment)
Instructions
Prepare the Venison Patties 🦌
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground venison, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
-
Mix all the ingredients together, but be careful not to overmix to keep the meat tender.
-
Form the mixture into 4 equal patties. Make a small indent in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
Cook the Patties 🔥
-
Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
-
Once the skillet or grill is hot, add the venison patties. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F for a juicy but well-cooked burger.
-
If using cheese, place smoked gouda slices on top of each patty in the final minute of cooking to allow the cheese to melt.
Assemble the Burgers 🍔
-
Toast the burger buns on the grill or skillet until golden.
-
On the bottom half of each bun, place a leaf of butter lettuce, followed by a tomato slice.
-
Place the venison patty on top, followed by red onion slices.
-
Spread burger sauce on the top half of the bun, then place it over the patty.
Serve and Enjoy! 🥳
-
Serve your venison burgers immediately alongside your favorite sides like sweet potato fries, coleslaw, or a refreshing cucumber salad.
