Instructions

  • 1. Cook the Salisbury steaks in a skillet with 3 tablespoons of oil until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  • 2. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil, sliced onions, and mushrooms. Cook until the onions are translucent and the mushrooms are tender, about 5 minutes.
  • 3. Stir in the beef broth, tomato sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • 4. Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the steaks to cook through and the sauce to thicken.
  • 5. Mix the cornstarch with a little water or beef stock until smooth, then stir into the sauce to thicken. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce reaches desired consistency.
  • 6. Serve the Salisbury steaks hot, smothered in the rich mushroom and onion sauce.
