Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8-inch baking pan. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat.
Add sugars to melted butter, stir until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add to wet mixture, stirring until combined.
Fold in chocolate chips if using. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool in pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
