Ingredients
  

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter cut into 10 slices
  • 6 ounces chopped semi-sweet chocolate good quality *see notes
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar, light or dark
  • 3 large eggs at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour, spoon and leveled
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks optional
  • flaky sea salt optional - for topping

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a saucepot over medium heat, stirring frequently, until golden brown (5-8 minutes).
  • Whisk in chopped chocolate until melted and smooth, then set aside to cool slightly.
  • Combine sugars and eggs, whisking until smooth (5-7 minutes).
  • Add vanilla, cocoa, and cooled brown butter mixture, whisking to combine.
  • Mix in flour, salt, and chocolate chips until just combined.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, then cool completely before cutting into 16 slices.

Notes

For the best flavor, use high-quality chocolate and avoid overmixing the batter.
