Easy Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites

Soft, chewy, and perfectly salted pretzel bites made at home. Great as a snack or appetizer!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups warm water about 110°F
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast 1 packet
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 10 cups water
  • cup baking soda
  • 1 egg yolk egg yolk whisked with 1 tablespoon water
  • coarse sea salt or pretzel salt
  • mustard cheese sauce, or your favorite dip

Instructions
 

  • Activate yeast in warm water with sugar, then mix with flour, salt, and melted butter to form dough. Let rise for 1 hour.
  • Prepare baking soda bath by boiling water and dissolving baking soda. Shape dough into 1-inch pieces and boil for 30 seconds on each side.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place boiled bites on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with salt.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm with mustard or cheese sauce.

Notes

For an authentic pretzel taste, use coarse sea salt or pretzel salt for topping before baking.
