Ingredients

For the Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt divided
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter 1½ sticks, divided
  • 1 cup whole milk cold
  • 8 oz shredded mild cheddar cheese freshly shredded recommended
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Melt ½ cup (1 stick) of butter in the microwave and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and ½ tsp salt.
  • Pour in melted butter and cold milk. Stir gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese with a spoon until evenly distributed.
  • Drop heaping spoonfuls of dough onto the baking sheet. No shaping needed.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  • While baking, melt remaining ¼ cup butter and mix with ¼ tsp salt and parsley.
  • Brush biscuits with herb butter immediately after baking. Serve warm.

Notes

Use cold milk to keep the butter from melting too soon — it gives fluffier biscuits. Don’t overmix or they’ll turn dense!
